Brunch with the Birds
30”x40” mixed media on stretched canvas.
This piece was created intuitively by adhering fabrics to the canvas purely based on color composition and texture preferences. Overtime shapes began to emerge and a tablescape took form. I painted images onto paper and collaged them into this piece, as well as recycled former paintings of mine. I eventually collaged more fabrics into the piece, including a placemat which felt very à propos given the subject matter. I enjoyed combining different painting styles with the various fabrics to create a playful and abundant scape. How many birds are hiding in this piece, do you think?
This assemblage is in a private collection.
